Joseph Abbati

VISIBLE

May 4 – June 29, 2024

Come meet the artist on Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. at the Firehouse Arts Center.

The Firehouse Arts Center is excited to present the solo exhibition of Joseph Abbati, VISIBLE. This exhibition is a celebration of the diversity and beauty of queer representation to celebrate Pride 2024. Abbati’s portraits, which serve as the centerpiece of the exhibition, are a yearlong study that came about through a grant from the San Francisco Arts Commission. Through his paintings and tapestries, Abbati captures the essence of his subjects while highlighting the expanding spectrum of queer identity and visibility. In doing so, he celebrates the differences that make the Bay Area so rich and vibrant. Each portrait highlighting a leading figure in the queer community, Abbati captures the resilience and efforts of these individuals who encourage the visibility and advocacy of the LGBTQ+ community. This presentation will be on view at the Firehouse Arts Center lobby through Pride Month in June 2024.
