PAL's Nancy Thompson Memorial Wall Exhibition

Zelda K

EXHIBITION DATES: March 21 – May 9, 2026

RECEPTION: March 21, 2026 from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M.

The Firehouse Arts Center is excited to feature the work of Zelda K on the Nancy Thompson Memorial Wall (2F) from March through May 2026. Featuring approximately 20 works by the artist, visitors will be treated to a visual symphony of oil, watercolor, and acrylic. Taking inspiration from the melodic flow of jazz, bossa nova, and opera, this presentation translates the artist’s deep love of music onto her vivid canvases.

The artist has released the following statement in light of her solo exhibition:

“Born in Moldova, where I resided there until getting into University of Tver to study mathematics. Yes, I loved the harmony of numbers and geometry! Now my roots are in Pleasanton California where I have a loving family, growing as an artist and love harmony in all things beautiful. I am mostly a self taught artist. I liked to draw since I was a child and over the years took many art workshops and courses, read about artists I liked as well as about surrounding history, which created my own art collage at home. I started painting consistently since 2019. Then I infected myself with an ‘artist’s bug’ which I’m happy to keep forever.

This was reinforced after I took Creative Visionary Program with Nicholas Wilton, who enthused me in motion with abstract work and freed me up from an “artist impostor syndrome” which got me unstuck for good. What began as representational work, shifted toward impressionism, and now I find freedom in abstraction, allowing my imagination and experience of the world to flow without constraint. My inspiration comes from things I love: nature, hiking, music, travels, good writing, happy children and anything else beautiful. I am moved by beauty in many forms — the steady motion of waves against rocky shores, landscapes that hover between reality and dream, graceful gestures, and the emotional power of music, deepening my connection to creativity and shaping the visual language in my paintings. I love the process of creating an abstract work when I rely mostly on my intuition and experimentation with no preconceived notion of the outcome! My watercolors and acrylics are presented at different art shows and exhibits organized by CWA, PAL, Bay Area Open Art and several local galleries.”
