Stage Craft & Set Design

Ages 14-17
June 20 – July 8, 2022; 9a-12:30p
High school students will be directly involved with designing, paining, and assembling the set and props for both Drama Camp musicals and Teen Playwright’s Summer Workshop. Students will also support evening camp performances during this three-week session.

Stage Lighting & Sound

Ages 14-17
July 11 – July 15, 2022; 9a-12:30p
High school students will learn the basics for lighting and sound for the stage and apply that knowledge to supporting the upcoming Summer Drama Camp productions. Students will also support evening camp performances during this one-week session.

Stage Production Crew

Ages 14-17
July 18 – July 23, 2022; 9a-4:30p
Prerequisite: Any 2022 Teen Tech Camp
Students in this camp will apply what they have learned in previous weeks of Teen Tech Camps to immerse themselves in the various technical aspects of all three summer musicals. There will be Saturday performance 7/23 at 2pm and 7pm at the Firehouse Arts Center in addition to Friday, 7/22 performances at the same time.

Lil Sparks Players

Ages 5-6
July 5 – July 15, 2022; 2p-3:30p
July 18 – July 21, 2022; 10a-11:30a
Little performers will get an age-appropriate introduction to musical theater by rehearsing some well-known musical theater numbers in a fun, safe, supportive environment. In our third week, campers will change times and location to join with our Sparks production to rehearse for their final two performances of Jungle Book Kids together! Performances take place on Friday, July 22 at 2pm and Saturday, July 23 at 7pm.

Sparks Players

Ages 7-11
June 27 – July 22, 2022; 9a-12:30p
Sparks Players is an excellent place to start or continue your musical theatre journey. Auditions and casting happen within the class, and participants work towards a 30 minute production while learning theatre basics along the way!
Participants work, learn, and have fun in our return to musical theatre for youth at the Firehouse Arts Center! Participants will audition, be cast in, and rehearse towards a final performance of Jungle Book Kids! Performances take place on Friday, July 22nd at 2pm and Saturday, July 23rd at 7pm.

Flashpoint Players

Ages 8-13
June 27 – July 22, 2022, 1p-4:30p
The next step in your musical theatre journey! This program applies the knowledge gained from our Sparks Players program and takes participants to the next level. Dive deeper into musical theatre technique, all while being cast in and rehearsing for a musical at the end of this four week session!
Participants work, learn, and have fun in our return to musical theatre for youth at the Firehouse Arts Center with the show Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales! Performances take place on Friday, July 22nd at 7pm and Saturday, July 23rd at 2pm

Teen Playwrights

Ages 11-17
June 27 – July 22, 2022; 9a-12:30p
Teens collaborate to create their very own stage production! Participants will create their own scenes, monologues, and show to perform on the Firehouse stage! Performances take place on Thursday, July 14 and Friday, July 15 at 5pm

Theatre Arts Intensives for Kids

Ages 7-11
June 20 – July 1, 2022; 1:30p-4:30p
New and experienced young performers will add to their performing arts tool belts as Summer Drama Camp staff facilitate a variety of theater activities designed to educate, inspire, and foster cooperation. Face coverings are required for this fun and engaging camp. There is a ticketed culminating performance on Thursday, July 14 at 5pm.

Theatre Arts Intensives for Teens

Ages 11-17
July 5 – July 15, 2022; 1:30p-4:30p
Teen performers of all levels will have a great time enhancing their performing arts skills in this camp designed for fun, growth, and collaboration. Face coverings are required for this fun and engaging camp. There is a ticketed culminating performance on Friday, July 15 at 5pm.

High School Cabaret

Ages 14-17
July 11 – July 29, 2022; 9a-12:30p
Experienced vocalists and instrumentalists will collaborate to plan, rehearse, and perform a musical theater cabaret concert. Face coverings are required for this fun and engaging camp. An afternoon performance is planned at the end of this 3-week camp on Friday, July 29 at 7pm.

COI Middle School Short Form Improv Camp

Ages 11-13
June 20 – June 24, 2022; 9a-3p
Middle school students will have a fantastic time in this camp designed to teach improv the Creatures of Impulse way. Improv games, scenes, and laughter are a huge part of this fun and engaging 1-week camp. An afternoon performance is planned at the end of this 3-week camp on Friday, June 24 at 5pm.

COI High School Short Form Improv Camp

Ages 14-17
June 20 – June 24, 2022; 9a-3p
High school students will have a fantastic time in this camp designed to teach improv the Creatures of Impulse way. Improv games, scenes, and laughter are a huge part of this fun and engaging 1-week camp. An afternoon performance is planned at the end of this 3-week camp on Friday, June 24 at 5pm.

COI Middle School Long Form Improv Camp

Ages 11-13
August 1 – August 5, 2022; 9a-3p
High school students will have a fantastic time in this camp designed to teach improv the Creatures of Impulse way. We will be building towards working on a long form improv show – a completely improvised short play, with a culminating performance on Friday, August 5th at 5:30pm.

Packet and Emergency Information

  • Please make sure to fill out THIS Emergency Packet before the first day of camp!
  • Jungle Book KIDS & Stinky Cheese Man camp staff cannot officially cast your camper until the camp packet is completed for your child(ren).
  • High School Cabaret, may not continue with the production until both the packet and the emergency form are completed for each camper AND they must be registered.
  • No camper may continue with the program until parents have filled out, signed, and turned in their packet.
  • Please Note: Campers ages 12 and older will be released at the program end time. Please have a conversation with your child as to their next steps after the program ends. Campers ages 11 and younger will be held until pick-up. Program staff have been trained to call the Pleasanton Police Department if campers have not been picked up from camp after the program ends.

  • Tickets for all Summer shows go on sale starting Friday 6/24 at 12:00pm. Firehouse box office hours are Thursdays: 12pm-4pm, Fridays: 2pm-6pm, Saturdays: 11am-3pm
  • Please make sure to refer to the DRAMA CAMP CALENDAR (above) for performance dates and times.
  • All tickets to Pleasanton Youth Theatre Company performances are $10. Family and friends will need to purchase tickets to any performance they wish to attend. Complimentary tickets will not be distributed for performers.

Important Drop Off  & Pick Up Information

In the interest of safety and traffic abatement at each of our program sites, we ask that you download THIS PDF to see the appropriate places to pick up and drop of your child. As a reminder, students ages 12 and older will be released at the scheduled program end time. Students ages 11 and younger will need to be picked up by someone 18 and older and that adult must walk into the program site and connect with staff at pick up.
